The Saltee Face Collection Explained

Discover all you need to know

The Saltee face collection includes two unique, ultra-high SPF50 products. A light, everyday product and a formula ideal for protection in the hot sun.  Whether you’re looking for a reliable SPF to add to your daily skincare routine or you need high protection whilst you bask in the warm sunshine.

What exactly is the difference between UVA and UVB rays?

UV irradiation in the form of UVA is associated with skin ageing. UVA affects the elastin in the skin and leads to wrinkles and sun-induced skin ageing as well as skin cancer. UVA can penetrate window glass and penetrates the skin more deeply than UVB. UVA protection in Saltee defends the skin against photo ageing and skin cancer.

UVB is the form of UV irradiation most responsible for sunburn and has strong links to malignant melanoma and basal cell carcinoma risk (types of skin cancer). Saltee with our high factor 50 SPF (Sun Protection Factor) will block UVB rays and prevent the skin from burning.

Just how damaging is the sun for your skin?

The skin soaks up the sunlight which contains plenty of healthy Vitamin D.  However, too much sun exposure can be very detrimental. It can cause sunburn and pass into the deeper layers, which can damage the cells.

The skin naturally develops wrinkles, fine lines and pigmentation as we age. And although this is inevitable, the main cause of these factors is damage caused by UV light, 90% in fact. Photo-damage is a direct result of sun damage from over exposure and not protecting the skin using a high SPF suncream, like Saltee Daily Protection Formula, every single day.

By definition in daytime, the sun is always out, whether rain or shine, cool breeze or hot sun. So, it’s essential to look after your skin all year round, every day.  The natural ageing of the skin can’t be stopped however, you can help prevent photo-ageing. By wearing Saltee suncare products every day you can not only keep skin looking and feeling healthy and youthful but also prevent more serious damage that can lead to skin cancer.
